Portugal closes group A of the men’s Golden League in second place
The Portuguese men’s volleyball team was, this Wednesday, in second place in the Ada Golden League group, after beating Slovakia 3-2, in Bratislava.
With two teams already without aspirations to play in the ‘final four’, the team led by João José was once again superior, after beating Slovakia at home 3-0, having, this Wednesday, triumphed by 25-22, 23-25, 25-23, 19-25 and 16-14.
The corner team started the match better, leading the first set by four points (14-10), closing it in front by 25-22.
Without the marker’s command of the marker, alternated, with the tie 3-22, the first two games when a game was partial, yielding 25-23, which led to the draw 1-1.
With a strong entry, at 6-1, Portugal wouldn’t count on losing by 13-11 in the middle, however, they ended up taking back the reins of the match and closing in 25-23, leading by 2-1.
Slovakia persisted in the conquest and the victory tied with a triumph by 25-19 in the fourth, forcing the ‘black’, who was much more balanced, but the Portuguese ended up winning 16-14.
Portugal ended up being the victim of the draw, as it was discovered by Turkey, winner of the last two editions of the competition and who lost both games, 3-1 in Viana do Castelo and 3-0 in Trabzon.
