Covid-19 in Portugal: daily average of infections drops and there is good news about Rt
The average number of virus infections has now been released.
According to the weekly report by the Instituto Nacional de Saúde Doutor Ricardo Jorge (INSA) on the evolution of the pandemic, the average number of daily cases of infection with the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus in five days went from 26,349 to 25,042 at the national level. , being lowest on the mainland (23,663).
The document also advances that the average value of the R – which estimates the number of secondary reporting cases of each person carrying the resulting virus – between May 30 and June 3 was 0.98, when in the previous one it was 1.00. .
The Rt was above the threshold of 1.00 in Portugal since 26 April, having reached the value of 1.26 on 9 May.
By region, INSA indicates with an Rt of 0.91 in the North, of 0.96 in the Centre, of 1.04 in Lisbon and Vale do Tejo, of 0.96 in Alentejo, of 0.98 in the Algarve, of 1 .05 in the Azores and 1.29 in Madeira.
“All regions have an insufficiency rate of more than 960 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in 14 days”, being higher in the Azores (4,366.6), in Lisbon and Vale do Tejo (3,690) and in the North (3,111.8) .
