Another Salzburg support is moving to Leeds United
After Brenden Aaronson, another Salzburg supporter, Rasmus Kristensen, has left Austria’s series champions for Leeds United. The 24-year-old right-back signed at Table-17. in the English Premier League on Wednesday and will again work under his former Salzburg coach Jesse Marsch. The American offensive player Aaronson had already signed on May 26 for five years.
“The move from Rasmus does not come as a surprise to us, also because he has always spoken very openly about his goal of moving to one of the top leagues in Europe in recent talks,” said Salzburg’s sporting director Christoph Freund.
Kristensen, release clause
After moving from Ajax Amsterdam in the summer of 2019, the Dane won the double three times with the “Bulls” and was also able to play in the Champions League. According to media reports, the fee should be between 10 and 15 million euros. Kristensen’s contract in Salzburg would have run until 2025, but he had an exit clause.
“Rasmus will be remembered not only as a great player but also as an official person and personality by the entire club and our fans. I’m convinced that his style of play will play an important role right from the start in the Premier League,” said Freund. The defender also scored 13 goals and 19 assists in 107 competitive games for Salzburg.
“My time at Salzburg was incredible. After a difficult phase before that, I found fun and joy in football again here. I also grew as a player during this time and had so many special moments here. The games in the Champions League in particular were highly emotional and I will always remember them,” Kristensen summed up.
