USA crushes Sweden, Finland writes history, at the U18 World Cup – The Rink Live
MADISON, Wis. – Team USA came out strong against Sweden in a dominant 6-1 victory on Monday 6 June to end the fourth match of the day in the 2022 IIHF U18 WC for women.
Laila Edwards (Wisconsin) scored in the first period of powerplay to give the Americans an early lead.
Cassie Hall (Wisconsin) scored two back-to-back goals, less than a minute apart, and Minnesota native Josie St. Martin would end the first period with a 4-0 lead for the United States
It was quiet in the second period until Elyssa Biederman (Colgate) scored a short goal and led the Americans 5-0.
Team Sweden scored their only goal in the third period on a shot from Ebba Hedqvist.
Tessa Janecke added a powerplay goal later for USA
Team USA goalkeeper Annalies Bergmann received the win.
Sydney Morrow (Ohio State), Laila Edwards and Cassie Hall all had three points nights. Grace Dwyer (Cornell) and Kirsten Simms (Wisconsin) both hit two assists.

Team USA will be back in action on Tuesday at 20.00 CT to meet Finland.
