Fixed for a while: Christopher Kopleder will retire at the end of the season. The end of his career Eugendorf-Scorer now came earlier than expected. Because the 33-year-old in Salzburg League-Game against Neumarkt saw the red box because of a headbutt, he now has to slip into the role of a spectator on the very last day of the current season.

Career end differently
With 290 stalls in 390 competitive games, Christof Kopleder has long since achieved legendary status in the Salzburg lower house of football. It’s a done deal: At the end of the season, the 33-year-old sharpshooter will end his active career and switch to Puch’s sporting director. Next week he should have celebrated his departure from the football stage in and against Straßwalchen. But as has been known since last Saturday, the subjunctive remains. The very last show run will no longer exist for Kopleder…
The reason is more than curious. Last Friday, Kopleder saw the red card in his Eugendorfer’s home game against Neumarkt after missing a headbutt in Zidane-style on guest coach Fritz Oberascher. Moments earlier, the offensive spirit, who scored 21 goals this year, still felt responsible for his colors’ 1-0 lead. In the end, the Green-Whites clearly won 5:1 despite being outnumbered for a long time (Neumarkt’s bad luck also had to take a shower prematurely at the beginning of the final quarter of an hour with the traffic light card). However, the title and promotion dream has burst.
