League of Nations. Spain saves a point in Prague.
Spain, Switzerland’s next opponent in Geneva on Thursday, is not yet gaining momentum in the Nations League.
Last year’s finalists have to settle for a 2-2 draw in the Czech Republic three days after beating Portugal 1-1. The Spaniards were able to equalize twice and save at least one point from Prague.
In added time in the first half, 17-year-old Gavi made it 1-1. The FC Barcelona midfielder, scoring his first international goal, replaced team-mate Ansu Fati as the youngest goalscorer for the Spanish national team. In the 90th minute defender Ingo Martinez – also with his first goal for Spain – scored a header via the crossbar to make it 2-2.
The Czech Republic with goalie Tomas Vaclik just missed the second win in a row after the one against Switzerland. After just over three minutes, the hosts had taken the lead and, in the midst of the Spanish pressure phase, had made it 2-1 in the 66th minute thanks to excellent praise from Jan Kuchta.
