On the penultimate matchday it came in the Salzburg regional league to the prestigious neighborhood duel between the USK Maximarkt Anif and the SV Grödig. The “happy ending” was intended for the guests, who, thanks to the two-pack of Milos Savic prevailed 2:1. Shortly before the end of the game, the Anifers only managed to score the first goal.

Gröiger sets the direction
“We always found good solutions when we had the ball,” Grödig trainer Thomas Schnöll was quite satisfied with his team’s performance in the first half. The guests started strong in the derby in front of almost 250 visitors, but were initially unable to convert their dominance into something countable. Vucanovic, Finder and Schober messed up the best chances to score – Sfait also failed with his shot on the inside post. “The opening goal was actually only a matter of time,” Schnöll knew. In the 29th minute the time had come: Anif was unable to free himself decisively after a Grödig set-piece, Babic got the ball and put it into the near post with a sharp shot – 1:0. Little to be seen of the hosts war offensive over long stretches. Once guest goalie Colic had to stand his ground in a Golser header.
Sfait bit down a second time
After the change of sides, the duel between the neighbors was a little more triggered. Nevertheless, the Grödig team managed to double their lead relatively quickly: Finder grabbed the marble from the home defender and was illegally stopped in the penalty area – Savic converted the penalty kick to make it 0:2 (57th). After Vucanovic and Finder missed further chances, the Anifers went through their best phase. “They kept getting dangerous with their long balls behind the defensive line,” said Schnöll, who observed a good-humoured goalkeeper Colic on two Leitz shots. There was real tension in the finish when Kadrija reduced the lead to 1:2 from a suspected offside position (83′). But because the Schnöll-Elf defended everything until the final whistle, Grödig’s narrow derby success remained. “The well-deserved war,” Schnöll added. “We were better over the 90 minutes.”
