Ice hockey – ICE: Red Bull Salzburg gets striker Troy Bourke – winter sports
Salzburg – Friday, June 3rd, 2022, 7:42 p.m
Red Bull Salzburg have strengthened their squad with a striker from the Finnish Liiga. Troy Bourke is moving from Oulun Kärpät to the Austrian champions of the win2day ICE Hockey League.
The 28-year-old Canadian is moving into his third station in Europe after playing for two years in the DEL with the Schwenninger Wild Wings before Oulu.
In Finland, Bourke was his team’s second-best scorer with 13 goals and 24 assists in 60 games.
Prior to his time in Europe, Bourke was active partially overseas at the AHL and ECHL levels. In 2012, he was drafted 72nd in the third round by the Colorado Avalanche but never played in the NHL.
“I chose the Red Bulls because the organization has a very good reputation and focuses on developing one’s own skills and winning,” explains the new signing.
“I’m a playmaker, a 2-way center, go where it hurts and see myself as a team player. I want to take my personal performance to the next level and help the team win the championship again,” he says About yourself.
Bourke also runs into an old acquaintance in Ty Loney, with whom he has played before.
