Poste San Marino closes 2021 with a red of 680 thousand euros: “lower losses compared to expectations”
The 2021 liabilities for Poste San Marino Spa are still heavy: 680,000 euros. But it’s better than the estimated 750,000 and much better than the 880,000 lost in 2020.
For this reason, for management and the Secretariat of State you can look at the glass as half full.
The Secretary of State for Tourism with responsibility for the Post Office Federico Pedini Belovedthe President of the Board of Directors of Poste San Marino Sergio Casadei and the General Manager of Poste San Marino Gian Luca Friends spoke today in the press conference for the budget approved unanimously by the Board of Directors first and then by the assembly.
“The financial statements of Poste San Marino SpA – explained the Secretary Pedini – a private law company wholly owned by the State closed with a loss of 70,000 euros lower than that estimated and with a reduction of the loss compared to 2020 equal to 200,000 euros. Given that it guarantees confidence in the goal of the breakeven to be achievedaccording to what is contained in the industrial plan, with the financial year 2023 ″.
The Board of Directors of Poste San Marino SpA, represented in the conference by President Sergio Casadeianalyzed the general economic situation by evaluating positive and negative factors of Poste San Marino’s activity “with particular attention to ever greater decrease in correspondence in the form of a letter, on which, in addition to the historical factor, the new methods of electronic transmission of invoices and certified electronic mail weigh. Instead, it is evaluated as parcel shipments are a strategic asset preferred by the world of e-commerce. Poste San Marino boasts this last type of services extremely beneficial thanks to a collaboration relationship with the providers of these Italian services.
The company’s goal is to improve the commercial activity and the promotion of services other than the traditional one of shipping “.
“The relationship between the Secretariat of State, the Board of Directors and the General Management is excellent – explained the Secretary of State Federico Pedini Amati– we all work together to think for the future of the company. The commitment with which the challenges are faced by the management is commendable, and this is why I feel compelled to intervene to respond to the more or less instrumental criticisms that are addressed to them. I reject any kind of controversy to the sender, especially those that arrive in the position from those who, despite having been to do so, have not managed to improve the negative performance of Poste in the past “.
“I would like to remember – explained the General Manager of Poste Gian Luca Amici– that we have reduced the debt by 200 thousand euros without layoffs, only by rationalizing costs and increasing turnover. Our managerial and strategic management is determined to achieve the objectives of the industrial plan and the numbers, which are indisputable, tell us that we are in line with expectations “.
During the conference there was also an opportunity to discuss the passage under the management of Poste San Marino SpA of the Philatelic and Numismatic Office “with the aim of improving its commercial weight but also to align itself with the choices of most of the countries in the world where the two services travel together (as also happens in Italy). The goal is to transform the company into a real “multiservice” that can soon start making profits “.
“In this case too – continues Pedini Amati – I must remember the inconsistency of the criticisms of the opposition which, when it was on the other side, in the previous government, had proposed the merger by decree”.
One of the issues touched upon is that of the difference between the contracts of the employees of the San Marino Post Office itself: “It is physiological – explains Gian Luca Amici – given that it is the result of the different characteristics that the company has taken on over the years. From today, as we have already had the opportunity to discuss it with the trade unions, the problem will no longer arise, the new corporate form of Poste allows, for new hires, exclusively private type contracts “.
“I am sorry that the work that this Board is committed to carrying out is not fully understood – President Casade explained – citizens do not know what responsibilities we are called to respond to. We know that most of the controversy comes from those who attack the transformation into SpA of a service that was in the hands of the public administration and in this regard it is evident that it is not understood how important it is that this company travels with this corporate form, for slenderness and effectiveness. We have a drawer full of projects – Casade concluded – and we work to develop better and new initiatives with the aim of improving the budget and always guaranteeing services “.
“Let me be clear – continued General Manager Gianluca Amici – I do not do magic, I cannot reset an important loss like the one I inherited in a year but I am very confident in the goals we have set ourselves. Today the ratio between personnel costs and is back in line with the pre-pandemic years thanks to the reorganization that continues to guarantee excellent results without denying any service. Connecting to what the President said about nostalgics of previous managements, I would like to remind you that the corporate form that the Post Office has today can guarantee effective management control that brings wide benefits, reduces waste and analytically allows us to understand what our possibilities are. Why would you want to go back if not to mask the Poste budget within that of the State? “
In conclusion, the Secretary of State Federico Pedini Amati wanted to recall for the umpteenth time how the budget, while remaining negative, has reduced compared to 25% compared to 2020 and has seized the opportunity for the excellent relationship with the Ministry of Development Economic Italian and with Poste Italiane with which the collaboration is high and effective.
The excellent relationship with Italy made it possible to solve the problems that were created with some service providers. “Today – concluded Pedini Amati – those problems are being resolved, we are restructuring the relationship with suppliers and soon we will also announce new services”.
