Jota Silva: “I chose Vitória because it is a big club in Portugal”
22-year-old forward reinforces the Victorians
The words Jota Silva as a Vitória player show his desire to sing with the King on his chest. The 22-year-old player was coveted by clubs in the I League from abroad, and he confesses why, where the Victorian club pretended to leave its mark in Guimarães. “I chose Vitória because they are a big club in Portugal. It is a club that moves an entire city, the fans are passionate about the club. The Club itself, the history it has, Vitória is impossible. Establishing myself in Portuguese football is one of my biggest dreams, and I’m in the right club for that. A big club, which opened doors for me, and we have everything to achieve success together.”
Jota Silva was one of the great highlights of Casa Pia, and the natural forward from Gondomar, now, in the north of the country, returning close to his roots, one more reason to continue to evolve and demonstrate his football. “These important considerations for your pillars, which are always important to us and all this important, to improve more and more, day, to be a better player and person. I have always believed in my work, I believe that those who achieve their goals. It was something I looked for, something I worked on day after day, and Vitória, at this age, is incredible. Being able to represent a club of this size in Portugal, I have no words and I am very, very happy. This is a club that gives the players the conditions to shine, to stand out in Portuguese football, and the fans, I think, are living proof that it is a big club in Portugal.”
Jota Silva’s quality was evidenced by the great season he played for Casa Pia AC, where he scored 14 goals in 39 games. Vitória is ahead of the competition for a registered game player with personality and style prepared to sing in Guimarães. “I am ambitious and determined, I think these are two characteristics that fit very well with my way of being. As a player, he is a player who will give everything on the pitch, who has to be fast, who is intelligent and, most importantly, works for the benefit of these players’ team. From the moment I step on the pitch of D. Afonso Henriques, from the moment I enter the Academy, I will always give my all, I will leave everything on the pitch for Vitória.”
Focused on showing his football in a club with such a special connection with its fans, Jota Silva also points to the Portuguese National Team. “What attracted me the most, it doesn’t take many words to describe why. I think it’s every player’s dream to be able to play for Vitória. The fans are incredible, whether at home or away, they are passionate about the club and that follows the club everywhere is one of the things that entice players to come here. Representing the National Team is a dream that any Portuguese player has, and I don’t think I’m the right club to be able to achieve that dream. I think it’s getting closer and closer, and I think it’s going to be here at Vitória that I’ll achieve that goal. More than a dream, it is a goal.”
