elle se bat pour revoir son fils, retenu à Oman par son père
Since then, Maud Quinault has been agitating social networks, launched an online petition and even went to the gates of the Élysée and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to express her dismay. “My heart is broken and my pain unspeakable but my fighting spirit is equal to my grief, immense”, says this mother who does not intend to abdicate.
She therefore filed a complaint with the police and the Bordeaux prosecutor’s office confirming that she had opened a judicial investigation for child abduction. “The father took charge of the child as part of his visitation and accommodation rights and did not bring him back to his mother at the end of April 25. The complaint alleges that the father traveled with their child to Oman. Investigations are underway, ”says the general secretariat of the public prosecutor.
“A descent into hell”
Maud Quinault lived several years abroad, notably in the Middle East. She was working as an interior designer when, in the Sultanate of Oman, she met her future husband, a wealthy entrepreneur, father of little Fahad-Louis. Between 2016 and the summer of 2019, the couple’s daily life went “from mad love to violence. At first he was a man full of life, but the loss of our first child in childbirth changed everything. I never saw him smile again,” she says.
“Only mediation or diplomatic channels could move this file forward”
The wife and mother recount having “experienced a descent into hell”. In July 2019, she packed her bags and decided to return to France with her son, to spend a vacation in the Dordogne. “I just wanted to save our lives.” She will never return to Oman and has been sued by her husband. “The police came to my house one morning in Bergerac and I was taken into custody. »
Summoned before the criminal court to answer for child abduction, she was acquitted by the judges on April 12, 2022. “I am relieved because I have been accused of having kidnapped my son, it is terrible for a mother of experience such judicial harassment. But today, my son disappeared so that I cried out for help, and asked for a ban on leaving the territory for my child. »
His school mobilized
For a year, the parents had shared custody of Fahad-Louis, every other week. “When he was with his father, he lived in an aparthotel in Bordeaux-Lac. The balance was gradually falling into place, but he left for Oman without my consent, ”laments Maud Quinault.
“If there is no voluntary surrender, we will be limited in the means of legal coercion, explains Me Gaessy Gros, lawyer for Maud Quinault. We can have an international arrest warrant issued, but this gentleman would still have to be arrested and extradited, which is unlikely if he does not leave Oman. “For the Bordeaux council, “only mediation or diplomatic channels could move this case forward, because justice has limited powers in this area. »
In Bordeaux, the parents of pupils of the small bilingual school of Chartrons where Fahad-Louis is educated are mobilizing to support Maud Quinault, who despite everything remains hopeful of seeing her son again soon. “His father was supposed to bring him back to France last weekend, I waited at Roissy airport but they never arrived. If necessary, I’ll go get him with the risks that entails. »
