At the G7 summit on June 26 and 28, the heads of state and government of the seven most important industrialized countries will meet in Upper Bavaria’s Schloss Elmau to discuss global and political issues. The heads of state and government confer here shielded from the public. The day before the summit, a large demonstration wants to draw attention to itself all the louder: 15 organizations will demonstrate on June 25, 2022 in Munich for better climate and species protection and against hunger and poverty.
G7 demo in Munich: What is planned?
On June 25, the participants want to march on the Theresienwiese in Munich, the start is scheduled for 12 noon. The demo organizers will soon want more information, such as the demo route and the stage program on your website publish. Nevertheless, they are already certain: many thousands of people from Germany and Europe are expected to attend the large-scale demonstration on the Theresienwiese, they said.
G7 demo in Munich: who organizes the demonstration?
The demo is organized and supported by a group of 15 civil organizations:

Other organizations include to support the demo. Many thousands of people from Germany and Europe are expected to attend the large-scale demonstration on the Theresienwiese, it said.
G7 demo in Munich: goals and demands
The demonstration’s website reads: “We call on the heads of state and government of the G7 countries to accept the consequences of the Russian war against the Ukraine to pull and end dependence on oil, gas and coal.” In the call to the demonstration they demand among other things:
- An active peace policy
- Investments for a socio-ecological transformation and an efficient welfare state.
- Expansion of humanitarian aid
- A sustainable economic system
- Better infrastructure for buses, trains and bicycle
- A globally binding agreement to preserve biological diversity
- A more determined fight against hunger and poverty
“We live in the last decade in which we can still avert the worst consequences of these catastrophes,” said the organizers of the Munich demonstration. The phasing out of fossil energies is also a “decisive step for peace”, it was said in advance of the war in Ukraine.

Already 2015 G7 demo in Munich
The last G7 summit under the German presidency took place in 2015 at Schloss Elmau. And even then there was a demo in Munich. According to the organizers, the G7 demonstration on June 4, 2015, with 40,000 participants, was the largest demonstration in Munich for 20 years. At that time, the planned TTIP free trade agreement between the USA and the EU was the focus of the protest.
G7 demo in Munich: severity and security
A large contingent of the Munich police will accompany the G7 demonstration. Traffic obstructions and other impairments may also occur around the meeting place. If local public transport is also affected, the Munich Transport Company (MVG) will provide up-to-date information on a daily basis. Munich is about 100 kilometers from Schloss Elmau. The police are also expecting protests and demonstrations at the site of the G7 meeting.
