San Marino. Socialist Party: “Relationship with Italy privileged, but not exclusive”
“The Socialist Party, while continuing to consult with all policies, starting with those forces that make up the majority relationship, has taken into consideration with neighboring Italy”.
This is the theme at the center of a reflection by Socialist Party that “he paused to analyze the Italo-San Marino relationship which, for geographical and historical reasons, remains of fundamental importance for the Republic of San Marino.
After a long and fruitful period of serene collaboration between the two States, for some time now the relationship has become more complicated, either because of the complexity of the international historical moment, or because of the political changes that have occurred in these years in both Villages.
The Social Party believes that every diplomatic effort must be made to restore a relationship of neighborly trust that will lead the neighbor and friend Italy to consider San Marino a problem and not a problem, as is sometimes unfortunately expected.
San Marino’s alignment process that began with European standards in 2008 and continued up to the present day should guarantee all international interlocutors starting with Italy.
For San Marino, the relationship with Italy must remain privileged, even if not exclusive, it must be a strong point in the search for possible spaces with respect to the sovereignty of the country. The same negotiation with the European Union cannot in the least be understood as bypassing Italy, but always an opportunity to strengthen the existing collaboration relationship.
San Marino diplomacy must therefore work with all its strength to restore to all effects a relationship based on mutual trust and the recognition of equal dignity, in the interest of our two countries which have worked profitably over the decades “.
