Anif put an end to our series
The lack of success of the USK Maximarkt Anif ended last Wednesday. Against the bottom of the table Wals-Grünau, the very first victory was achieved under the leadership of the neo-coach Markus Huber. But it takes a certain amount of time to get started, as the underdog was still ahead thanks to a Brennsteiner goal at the break. In the second half, the Anifer finally put their foot down. Goals from Golser, Perlak, Danner and two-packer Leitz ensure a 5:1 victory.
Bischofshofen with “great reaction”
The Fötschl men were able to redeem themselves in the league for the lost cup final (2:3 against Kuchl) and bring Grödig to his knees 3:1. “We were the better team for 90 minutes,” reported BSK trainer Andreas Fötschl. Verbnyy ensured the early lead with a well-placed low shot into the corner (3′), Grödigs Savic from the point for the interim tie (18′). After a free kick from Verbnyy had hopped past friend and foe into the nest before the break (35′), a deflected Khalil cross-lay (65′) sent the three points into the freezer. “We showed a great reaction to the cup. I’m very proud of the team,” said Fötschl. Meanwhile, from the point of view of Grödig trainer Thomas Schnöll, more would have been possible: “The goals conceded were unnecessary and cheap.”
No winner at the summit
At the end of the round, the two best Regionalliga Salzburg clubs to date faced each other in Kuchl. “The spectators got their money’s worth,” said Seekirchen tamer Mario Lapkalo, eyeing a high-quality duel. However, a champion should not emerge from this top game. After a zero number in the first round, Fötschl slammed his SVK in front at the beginning of the second period (50′) before Volkert equalized with a penalty (67′).
