Ukraine will determine the conditions for ending the war
The European Parliament is most likely in favor of any pretext for Russia’s war against Ukraine, but some initiatives on this war are taking place on the territory of Ukraine, and only it will determine the conditions for completion.
This was stated by the President of the European Parliament Robert Mezzolo at a press conference in Brussels at a press conference, answering questions about the Italian government’s proposed peace plan in Ukraine, which will regulate the fire and start negotiations, Ukrinform correspondent said.
“We need to understand what exactly is behind this phrase – a violation. If you mean peace at the expense of Ukraine and its territory, I do not think that the European Union can be considered accepted. If we say that peace cannot be without freedom and justice, it means that peace cannot be achieved … In the context of all the discussions on this issue today, Ukraine needs to be at the table, so that no one else decides, that the war is over, or that Russia must somehow save face, “Mezzola said.
The EP President stressed that Europe is not at risk when it comes to appeasing the aggressor or saving his face. If a confident country on the European continent is the victim of an invasion, it will receive comprehensive assistance. And it will receive such assistance faster and faster to be able to defend the foundations of values that share the entire European Union.
Mezzola congratulated Europeans on Ukraine’s support, for example, when Italian and Ukrainian twin cities, which have long-standing ties, agree on joint solutions in postwar reconstruction, or on Ukraine’s wider involvement in various European projects in the context of its European integration.
“In the European Parliament, we always say that coordination is needed between what we say and what we do. Of course, we want this war to end as soon as possible. Every effort should be made to do this, but not without Ukraine at the negotiating table, “Mezzola stressed.
A two-day European Council meeting was reportedly launched in Brussels to continue Ukraine’s political, financial, material and humanitarian support in its fight against the Russian invasion, as well as the war-related issue of energy and global food security.
