June 1 and 2, 2022 – at the 4th International Arbitration & Mediation Conference – distinguished lawyers from Greece and abroad, with known experience in the field of arbitration and mediation, meet to discuss disputes and critical issues
H LAW LIBRARY and European Agency for Mediation and Arbitration [ΕΟΔΙΔ]in collaboration with Hellenic Institute of International and Foreign Law organize the 4th International Conference on Mediation & Arbitrationon Wednesday 1 & Thursday 2 June 2022, which will be held live, at Divani Apollon Palace & Thalasso.
The Conference is under the auspices of SA of President of the Republic Katerina Sakellaropoulou. At the same time, the institutional supporters of the conference are the Organization for the Promotion of Alternative Dispute Resolution Methods (OPEMED) and the Athens Chamber of Commerce and Industry (EVEA).
Distinguished lawyers, from Greece and abroadwith known experience in the field of arbitration and mediation meet to discuss the above and the critical issues of the practice in the field of Out-of-Court Dispute Resolution.

The first day of the conference, Wednesday 1 Juneis dedicated to mediation with Keynote Speaker Christian von Baumbach, Cross-Border Family Mediator (MiKK) and Instructor (Berlin). This day will be the presentation of both the legal aspects and the practice of mediation as well as the discussion on the daily occasion of the two years of Law 4640/2019. In addition, issues related to family mediation will be analyzed, with particular emphasis on the position of the child within it as well as the framework for resolving cadastral disputes through mediation. The first day ended with the submission of thoughts and experiences by mediators on issues such as: the contribution of non-violent communication in the context of mediation, the specific issue of domestic violence and what is or is not mediation.
At the end of the first day there will be a draw for 1 free participation in the Cadastral Mediation program and 1 free participation in the Family Mediation program.
The second day of the conference, Thursday 2 Juneis dedicated to the institution of Arbitration with Keynote Speaker Franco Ferrari, Professor of Law (NYU), Director of the Center for International Law, Arbitration and Commercial Law, New York. This day will present all the proposals on issues of International Arbitration, especially regarding the drafting of the arbitration agreement. Specifically, the meaning, content and types of arbitration clauses will be analyzed, as well as specific issues arising from small / hybrid arbitration clauses but also from the extension of the arbitration agreement to non-contracting third parties. In addition, issues related to the conclusion of arbitration agreements with the Greek State will be discussed. Finally, the last section will present and comment on selected recent case law trends at international level.
