AAA rating with a stable outlook for Liechtenstein confirmed
As part of the six-monthly review, the international rating agency Standard & Poor’s once again awarded Liechtenstein the top triple-A rating with a stable outlook.
According to the rating agency’s report, the retention of the top rating confirms the positive development of the state accounts and the good financial position of the public budgets. Furthermore, Standard & Poor’s refers to the strong Liechtenstein economy, which has extraordinary resilience and broad diversification.
The rating agency assumes that the war between Russia and Ukraine will have an indirect impact on the Liechtenstein economy via trade, supply chain problems and commodity prices, indicating its reduced growth forecast for the current year. the agency expects that Liechtenstein will be able to cope with the short-term negative economic effects of the war in the next two years without any adverse consequences for the national economy. This is supported by the strong budgetary position, forward-looking policies and a prudent regulatory framework.
Prime Minister Daniel Risch is very pleased that the rating agency has once again awarded the highest rating. The rating confirms Liechtenstein’s attractiveness as a secure and stable business location. Particularly against the background of geopolitical developments and international economic challenges, maintaining the top mark for Liechtenstein’s country rating can be seen as a major success. Solid budgetary policies and comprehensive support services during the Covid-19 pandemic lay the foundation for a good starting point for further recovery steps. It therefore requires constant effort and further development in order to use the good starting position for the future and to meet new challenges. A state account ensures the necessary room for maneuver and thus consolidates Liechtenstein’s excellent positioning in international comparison.
