Cossue et populaire, la 1re circonscription “Bordeaux Nord” à la loupe
A fight of cats was played in the sub-slopes of the “common house” of the majority, to win the nomination. She finally returned to the walker, who in his time was Emmanuel Macron’s office neighbor, at the Finance Inspectorate then his deputy chief of staff at Bercy…
Air of time
It is true that the 1re constituency of Gironde offers irreproachable fidelity to the political spirit of the times. She gives herself up to successive waves: pink between 2012 and 2017, LREM in 2017. Before that, she aligned herself with the political color of the town hall: the blue of a right that was said to be Gaullist. Without too many surprises, in the first round of the presidential election, Emmanuel Macron came out well ahead, more than 7 points ahead of the Insoumis Jean-Luc Mélenchon. However, it offers a contrasting profile.
And a puzzle-like sociology. Rather well-to-do neighborhoods: Chartrons, Caudéran, Le Bouscat. Sectors undergoing profound change, even a growth shock: Bacalan, Bruges. Popular districts, classified in city policy: Grand Parc, les Aubiers. And others totally new like Ginko. So many problems.
Among them, employment. 6.5% unemployment rate, well below the national average, but which raises the question of its nature, qualified or not. Equation summed up at Bassins à flot with the thorny cohabitation between industrial jobs in a residential sector where service activities are developing. The social subject is also very significant, 14.1% of the population lives below the poverty line. Like that of age (18.6% of retirees), youth, housing, transport, etc. Not to mention the question of safety, which arises more or less acutely depending on the sector.
Launching ramp
On paper Thomas Cazenave, for Together, at the best odds. A fastidious defender of the balance sheet and the presidential program, he has a perfect opportunity to make people forget his failed landing in the municipal elections. So a perfect launching pad. In the lying poker that animates the ranks of the Bordeaux opposition, with a view to “after Hurmic”, a victory could score a point against its putative competitors: Florian, Robert, Delattre. But recent political history has proven that the status of favorite is tricky.
Facing him, the union of the left has invested Catherine Cestari, elected EELV in Bruges, the smallest municipality in the constituency. The 1re, pretty much sums up the equation to be solved for the Nupes. Jean-Luc Mélenchon signs very good scores there. That said, it remains to gauge the dynamics of the label. Element to cross with grounding and embodiment in the field. It is therefore a delicate mission for this discreet elected representative from Bruges.
It should be noted that the PCF, within the framework of the agreement on the left, has for a time claimed this investiture strong of its anchorage in the district of Bacalan. The historic Vincent Maurin (several times legislative candidates in the sector) is mayor of Bordeaux Maritime, Olivier Escots, who has proposed, is deputy mayor of Bordeaux for disability and the fight against discrimination. The proposal was swept away by the Insoumis.
On the Republican side, we find Pierre De Gaétan Njikam, who intends to weigh in this former stronghold. He took up the torch left by Nicolas Florian. He is not unknown in the sector: he was deputy mayor of the Bordeaux Maritime district, which covers a good part of the district, between 2014 and 2020. He ran unsuccessfully in the last departmental elections. He has the support of Patrick Bobet, the LR mayor of Bouscat.
