Ukraine, human rights cinema brings Olga’s experience to the Royal Palace of Naples
Extraordinary appointment for the “Cinema of Peace” festival, which for the occasion moves to the Royal Palace of Naples. On Friday 20 May, at 5.30 pm, the monumental rooms host the screening of “Olga’s Italian diary“. The film, from 2018, tells the story of a Ukrainian caregiver who moved to Naples over 20 years ago. A story that comes back to the fore in the light of the conflict in Eastern Europe. At the screening, in addition to various exponents of the Ukrainian community in Naples, participate Elena Rubashevska.
Director and film critic, Rubashevska is editor-in-chief of Fipresci and coordinator of the Oko International Ethnographic Film Festival in Odessa (Ukraine). You have worked as a director and screenwriter, creating multimedia content for non-governmental organizations such as WWF, OSCE and with the United Nations, with particular attention to projects related to eastern Ukraine. After the outbreak of the war in Ukraine in 2022, Ukraine joined the Enegra Camerimage International Film Festival of the Art of Cinematography (Poland).
The meeting on May 20 is organized by Human Rights Film Festival of Naples and Gesco, together with the Fondazione Premio Napoli. Maurizio Del Bufalo (president of the Festival), Sergio D’Angelo (president of Gesco) and Carmen Petillo (president of the Napoli Prize) will intervene in the debate. Admission is free subject to availability.
The appointment follows the meeting dedicated to Ukraine on Thursday 19 May in Salerno, where as part of the “Cinema of Peace” of “I Giovedì dei Human Rights” there will be an appointment entitled “Memories of the Donbass” with two courts that tell how Mariupol was before the Russian invasion and coexistence among minorities Russian and Ukrainian society. The appointment is in the Archive of at 4.30 pm and also on this occasion the participation of Elena Rubashevska is expected to animate the debate.
