Campground to remain closed until 2023 after explosion
Business
There will be no summer operations this year at the Seecamp campsite in Zell am See-Thumersbach (Pinzgau). After a gas explosion and a fire in the company building, the site will remain closed at least until late summer 2023.
In the morning of March 2, the main building was shaken by the explosion. Despite a rapid large-scale operation by the fire brigade, it is a total loss.
The fire ruins are still standing, and they are scheduled to be removed in June. Since the main building next to the restaurant contains all facilities such as a water point, washrooms, toilet facilities, waste disposal and offices, the campsite will remain closed.
New construction of the main house planned for next year
According to the responsible leisure infrastructure GmbH of the city of Zell am See, an architectural competition for the reconstruction is to take place this autumn. Construction is scheduled to start next year. Those responsible hope that camping operations can be resumed in late summer 2023.
