AOn Friday afternoon, a woman’s body with severe stab wounds was discovered in Piesendorf, a municipality in Salzburg’s Pinzgau region. The approximately 30-year-old was found dead by relatives in her home. In the evening, suspicion falls on the fugitive 41-year-old ex-husband of the victim. He was still looking for him on Saturday.
On Saturday morning, the authorities involved kept a low profile for investigative reasons. Preliminary findings are treated with discretion to protect loved ones and not interfere with police work. The first official information was expected on Saturday afternoon.
The autopsy of the corpse was scheduled for the morning, and the forensic report was still pending. It was hoped that the interrogation of the victim’s ex-husband, who was still at large, would provide information about the course of events.
The bloody deed, which according to the police’s initial findings was committed with a knife, may have occurred a few hours earlier in the morning. As the executive announced on Friday evening, the manhunt for the suspect was initiated immediately after the body was found. The primary focus is on catching the fugitive suspect in order “to be able to clarify the background to the crime in more detail”. According to ORF, the special unit COBRA is also involved in the search for the alleged perpetrator. Forensic crime scene work and the search for clues were in full swing, as was the manhunt.
