Burglar arrested after several weeks of manhunt in Salzburg
After weeks of searching, the police caught two burglars on Friday. At the end of January, they broke into the apartment of a 23-year-old man from Salzburg and blackmailed the owner with cutting, stabbing and firearms. The interrogation of three accomplices, who were also involved in the robbery, now led to the success of the investigation.
On January 24, four men from Salzburg, two 17-year-olds, one 21-year-old and one 25-year-old, entered the apartment of a 23-year-old. She threatens her victim at gunpoint and demands that cash, drugs and the key to the apartment safe be handed over. Since the threatened young man did not comply with the demands, the masked apartment was searched and stolen a single amount of cash and some valuables, some of which were sold that same night.
Manhunt for two remaining suspects
One of the buyers of the stolen goods was reported for receiving stolen goods. A 25-year-old accomplice who scouted the crime scene, instigated the perpetrators and gave them access to the victim’s home was arrested along with two of the alleged perpetrators over the following days.
The manhunt for the two other suspects was initially slow, lengthy interrogations of the masterminds who had already been caught and in some cases only now led the police to the right track. After an arrest order from the Salzburg public prosecutor’s office, the other two suspects who had fled until then were taken into police custody at their places of residence. Since they refused to testify, the suspects were transferred to the Salzburg judicial facility.
