Nigeria becomes Switzerland’s partner in digital education
The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation Ms Monilola Udoh said Nigeria is ready to cooperate with Switzerland in the field of digital education through science, technology and innovation (STI).
Ms Udoh said so on Friday when a delegation from the Swiss embassy led by the director of foreign affairs of the Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne (EPFL), Mr Kuttel Olivier, paid a courtesy visit to her office in Abuja on Friday.
The Secretary of State explained that Nigeria has a long history of developing digital education, noting that through careful cooperation with other countries, the nation can achieve its desired goal.
She affirmed that digital education will ensure skill acquisition, wealth creation and employment opportunities for our team youth.
She pointed out that improving Nigerians’ access to education is necessary for the nation’s socio-economic development.
To this end, she assured the delegation of the Ministry’s commitment to working with Nigerians and Switzerland in the field of digital education, as this will help people to access networks and internet.
According to her, “We know that EPFL is a non-profit institution, so we are willing to work together on this basis, as this will help us identify with those universities that have talent in our country.”
She expressed satisfaction with the proposal given its importance for research results and methodologies.
Earlier, the head of the delegation, Mr. Kuttel Olivier, said that the purpose of their visit is to work with the ministry in the field of digital education by identifying young talented African students in different universities to train and equip them through digital education, so that they become entrepreneurs to train and retrain others in the country.
