First meeting of the European Committee for Social Cohesion
The first meeting of the European Committee for Social Cohesion (CCS) will be held on 17 and 18 May 2022 in Strasbourg and by videoconference.
During the meeting, the Committee will notably take note of the CCS Terms of reference for 2022-2025 and discuss the 2022-2023 action plan.
As this is the first meeting of the newly created Committee, the Chair, Vice-Chair and Bureau members will be elected.
The European Committee for Social Cohesion was set up by the Committee of Ministers as an ad hoc committee under Article 17 of the Statute of the Council of Europe and in accordance with the Resolution CM/Res(2021)3 on intergovernmental committees and subordinate bodies, their terms of reference and working methods.
The CEB brings together representatives from 46 member states, other Council of Europe bodies and committees, international institutions and other relevant stakeholders. The members of the Committee, appointed by the governments of the member states of the Council of Europe, are senior civil servants who are experts in the field of social cohesion and social rights.
The CCS continues the work of the European Platform for Social Cohesion (PECS) with a strengthened mandate. PECS activities can still be viewed on the Council of Europe website.
