Woman hit and killed by car
A woman was killed by a car in Cologne. Apparently she wanted to cross Aachener Straße when the car hit her.
A woman was hit and killed by a car in Cologne (North Rhine-Westphalia) on Thursday morning. The 43-year-old died according to the police still at the scene of the accident despite attempts at resuscitation. According to the announcement, the accident happened in Cologne-Lindenthal.
Witnesses told investigators that the woman who was killed apparently wanted to cross Aachener Strasse at the pedestrian traffic light when the green light hit her when the Smart of a 24-year-old hit her head-on. The young woman was heading into town. Her car was secured and the public prosecutor’s office took over the investigation.
Cologne: Aachener Straße had to be closed after an accident
According to the police, the accident happened near the tram stop at Melatenfriedhof. The busy main road had to be closed from the Oskar-Jäger-Straße intersection for rescue measures and for the securing of evidence. Tram operations could be continued as normal.
