It’s time for another night of wildly wacky shows courtesy of il Eurovision Song Contest.
The much-loved and long-running competition is back in 2022 – this time from Turin in Italy on Saturday 14 May.
After the Italian rock band Måneskin was given the name of champions in 2021, everyone is stealing its crown. But who has what it takes to stand out from the crowd and win over the judges and the public vote?
Here’s everything you need to know about Malta’s entry into Eurovision 2022.
Who is representing Malta at Eurovision 2022?
Name: Emma Muscat

She may be young, but Emma Muscat already has experience scholarships not only in her home country of Malta, but also in Italy where she is mostly based.
The singer, songwriter and model began her musical career from childhood, and in addition to having a clear talent for singing, she is also a classically trained pianist.
Her big break came in 2018 when she reached the finals of the long-running Italian talent show, Amici di Maria De Filippi.
Following her success in the show, Emma continued to release her own music – including singles ‘Avec Moi’, ‘Vicolo cieco’ u ‘Sangria’ – and is signed to Warner Music Italy.
What is the Malta song Eurovision 2022 called?
Emma has created a hymn to sing in the Eurovision 2022 song ‘I Am What I Am’.
The track, celebrating self-empowerment, was written by Dino Medanhodzic, who will be known to Eurovision fans as the producer and songwriter behind the Swedish songs ‘Little Tot’ and ‘Bulletproof’.
Since then, Emma has put her own unique turn on it, changing the guitar-led track to the piano – Emma’s trademark.
Where did Malta come in in the 2021 Eurovision Song Contest?
After a few years compared to the competition, 2021 marked a return to form for the Maltese.
Destiny Chukunyere and her song ‘Je me casse’ were favorites in the competition, and there was reason to celebrate when Destiny placed 7th overall with 255 points.
When is Eurovision 2022?
Eurovision fans will already have a well-established date in their diary, as the Grand Final takes place on Saturday 14 May 2022 and can be watched on BBC One.
All performances will take place at the PalaOlimpico Arena in Italy in Turin, following their triumph in 2021.
There are also two other dates to be added – the first semi-final on Tuesday 10 May and the second scheduled for Thursday 12 May 2022. Both will be shown on BBC Three.
