Traffic – Munich – Buses in numerous regions of Bavaria stop – Bavaria
Munich (dpa / lby) – In numerous districts in Bavaria, there will be no bus service on Friday morning. In view of the high diesel prices and the announced 9-euro ticket, bus operators want to draw attention to their situation, as announced by the Bavarian Bus Association (LBO) in Munich. Line and school transport in districts in Upper and Lower Bavaria as well as in Upper and Middle Franconia are affected.
According to the LBO, many family-run transport companies see no other way out due to the explosion in diesel prices and the loss of fares due to the pandemic. “Despite announced state aid, no money has flowed so far. For months, the transport companies have been bearing the additional costs out of their own pockets,” said the association. Discussions with the federal and state governments have so far remained unsuccessful, the state refers to the federal government. “The Federal Minister of Transport is stonewalling.”
Many bus companies are on the verge of insolvency, said LBO Managing Director Stephan Rabl. In addition, there is the 9-euro ticket, “whose state financing is not secured and is now also threatening to end up on the backs of the transport companies”. Local transport companies can only recognize the 9-euro ticket once it has been ensured that the companies will receive the missing fare revenue – in advance.
