The snacks of the future have arrived in Portugal — and now you can discover them at Musa da Bica – Comida
Farm of the Future. If you haven’t heard of this name yet, welcome to the food of the future. More precisely, the bolognese with minced “meat”, the “chicken” for a burrito and even the “tuna” salads — the most recent launch of the North American brand created in 2019, which arrived in Portugal in March. The news does not stop here, as, in addition to being in Portugal, Future Farm is now at Musa da Bica, in Lisbon.
Through cutting-edge technology, the brand creates products of plant origin similar to meat in terms of flavor, texture and succulence, with the difference that animals are left out of the bites of a hamburger. Speaking of which, one that stands out among the already vast offer of Future Farm, is 100% carbon neutral.
In other words, through the Future Burger buyer, the brand, through the Climate Partner, will offset 100% of the processed carbon ingredients coming from its customers. This translates into a distance equivalent to more than 4 million kilometers of kilometers traveled by car, according to the brand in a statement.
Now you must be thinking: “Nice, good effort, but… what about on the plate? Will I be able to have the same pleasure as a hamburger?”. Not. Because it may even be superior given that there are several ways to make this and other products from the brand, which has a great offer to diversify food.
There’s “meat” for a lasagna or bolognese, meatballs to add to a mashed potato, and fresh sausages to stuff a dog bun — all with added beetroot to mimic the color of “blood” and make even the most septic feel like it. to reduce the consumption of animal proteins. Chicken pieces “chick’n” are more like animal chicken.
The recent product to join the gastronomic offer of the future was the Future Tuna, made with water, chickpea protein, which, who knows, as ingredients, resulting in a kind of tuna ready to join the black-eyed peas and take it to the beach in a salad jar. For now, Future Tuna is only available at Getir, but soon it will be in more places.
You can find Future Farm (in packaging made of biodegradable materials or recyclable paper), in the supermarkets of El Corte Inglés, Supercor, in the store brand onlineat Getir and Like a Lord Burgers, a virtual restaurant owned by actor and comedian Rui Unas who created his first vegetarian burger when Future Farm arrived in Portugal.
There is also a novelty that allows you to find Future Farm ready to consume. The brand has just arrived at Musa da Bica, in the Bica neighbourhood, in Lisbon, where all the possibilities are available, at least, a new meat tasting of the future, almost without realizing that it is not meat. Quesadillas, vegetarian burgers and soft pastries have already been served with Future Farm and the next suggestions are surprises, but always between €7 and €12.
Until you pay a visit to the space, you can buy it for home and prepare a recipe, like this bolognese.
