The presidents of Poland and Slovakia will persuade the EU to grant Ukraine candidate status
The Presidents of Poland and Slovakia, Andrzej Duda and Zuzana Chaputova, have jointly toured Western Europe to ensure that their leaders support the idea of granting Ukraine EU candidate status.
Chaputova and Duda announced this on Wednesday during a joint press conference in Bratislava, Ukrinform reports.
“I invited the President (Dudi – ed.) To visit some Western leaders who have a restrained position on granting Ukraine the status of a candidate for EU membership. I believe that this is a very important step to support Ukraine and strengthen the world in Europe, “Chaputova said.
In turn, Duda revealed that he accepted Chaputova’s offer to increase such a mission, “especially where there are doubts about whether Ukraine can quickly gain candidate status.”
“We have no doubt that Ukrainians will receive this status as soon as possible, and we will be convinced in different places that Ukraine has received this support,” the Polish leader said.
