The first AgriFair in Malta is showing all the local stuff
Malta boasts such a strong agricultural industry that an endless range of products that we use every day can be supplied through local means. Given the hard work of farmers, fishermen, and all other stakeholders in the day-to-day industry, it is time for this sector of the Maltese economy to receive recognition. which he deserves.
Therefore, for the first time, the Ministry for Agriculture, Fisheries and Animal Rights (MAFA) will be hosting Malta AgriFair. This big event will be taking place this month.
For starters, Malta AgriFair 2022 will be paying due attention to local products, machinery, systems, and technological developments in the agricultural and fisheries sectors.
This should be done through the participation of key stakeholders in the areas mentioned above – we are talking about SMEs, large organizations, and everything in between.
Through this, the fair will be providing a platform for both the local farming community and producers to inform the general public about the products and services of the industries.
Whether you attend AgriFair as a member of the agriculture and fishing industries or just as a spectator, you can be assured that there will be plenty to take.
The large list of exhibitors currently includes companies, organizations, and institutes such as Malta Sunripe, Mġarr Farmers Cooperative Society, the Water Services Corporation, the Malta Food Agency, KPH Group, and ABACO Group.
Attendees are expected to become better acquainted with the concept of the farm to the fork, as the food chain system of food production, harvesting, processing, distribution and distribution consumption will be displayed in a very visual, innovative and interactive way.
Malta AgriFair is about more than just theoretical learning – so much so that it will be hosting a whole section of live animals where Maltese breeds of different farm animals will be exhibited.
Speaking of farm animals, the fair will be hosting two farm animal competitions: a live cattle competition on May 21 at 6pm and live sheep and goat competition on May 22 at 10:30 am.
There will also be many opportunities to learn about Malta’s thriving fishing industry. One of the most unique attractions of the fair, for example, will see wooden models of five different species of fish found in Maltese waters suspended from the roof of the place.
The Aquaculture Directorate, an exhibitor at AgriFair, will also be putting various live fish on display in a range of aquariums. In addition, a different area will be dedicated to agriculture, with demo fields showcasing different crops, trees and vines.
Among the many other interesting demos that will be set up, a large honeycomb structure will also be on display to educate attendees about Maltese bees. Sweet! If you are planning to attend AgriFair with children, you will be happy to know that there will not be one area, but two children’s areas. And if all that walking and learning makes you feel peckish, you can always refuel at the fairground restaurant or at the food stalls, which are serving Maltese food.
Malta AgriFair 2022 will be held at the Malta Trade Fairs and Conventions Center (MFCC) in Ta ‘Qali from Friday 20th May to Sunday 22nd May. Opening hours for the three days of the fair are from 10am to 10pm.
A standard ticket for this event (for individuals aged 12-59) costs € 3, while children under 12 and older (over 60) are free.
