KVB presents Bahn against fake police officers
Time and time again, people fall victim to fake police officers: They are supposed to hand over large sums of cash to the alleged officers. A KVB-Bahn should now draw attention to the scam.
It is often older people who are called by the supposed police officers. On the phone they say: “We have indications that your home will soon be broken into.” Therefore, they should hand over their valuables to the police. They are then often taken over by accomplices on the doorstep.
The police, together with the KVB, will now warn against this and similar scams. They are sending a specially designed train on the rails today, which points to the scam with the wrong police officers. The police have long focused on prevention.
Cologne detective chief: “Personal environment must be attentive”
“Above all, we do sustainable prevention work if we manage to sensitize the personal environment of the senior citizens and get them on board,” says the Cologne police chief Klaus-Stephan Becker. Outsiders should be particularly vigilant if someone suddenly wants to withdraw large sums of cash around them.
A few weeks ago, bank employees informed a senior citizen about the scam in this way when she wanted to withdraw her spare part.
