In Portugal, pilgrims return to Fátima after two years of pandemic

After two years of a pandemic, the Sanctuary of Fátima, in Portugal, to receive pilgrims without affected, returns to health from this Thursday (12). The religious center expects thousands of Catholics from all over the world to celebrate Our Lady of Fatima. The event is one of the main drivers of tourism in the country.
This Thursday morning, more than one hundred organized groups have already arrived at the Sanctuary of Fátima to follow the masses and events of the day, according to the Lusa agency. It is the sixth passage of thousands of pilgrims through the shrine-Thursday.
The pilgrimage of this marks the return, without Catholic affiliations, of the celebrations of Our Lady of Fátima, second Catholic. In 2020, the realization of May 13 was probably held without real ones in the Sanctuary account of the Covid-19 pandemic. Last year, there were only 7,500 seats available.
This year, the expectation is that the religious center will return to the same wave of tourists from previous years. In 2019, the sanctuary welcomed 6.3 million visitors throughout the year.
On this farm, thousands of people walked the routes that lead to the sanctuary coming from the north, south and Nazareth. Pilgrims, journeys that come from all over the world, can take up to 17 days of walking in Portuguese territory.
