“Portugal is one of the markets where we have Google Pay, so it will be one of the first markets to have Wallet”, Dong Min Kim, product director for Google Wallet, told Dinheiro Vivo in a session anticipating the company’s news.
The official explained that the novelty will allow “fast and safe access to everyday essentials in a single place.” This will include digital office certificates, student cards, hotel room and office access keys, and soon, hotel room and office access keys. Dong Min Kim said that Google is “working with US and national governments to add ID cards and driver’s licenses”, something it will have to go through later this year.
Another important aspect of the new Wallet is that it will be integrated into applications when the context warrants it. For example: when the user is flat or their trajectory, the wallet can add to the transport fund before reaching the metro function, allowing you to save time by not having to go to a machine to load the ticket.

The theme of this update is privacy, security, personalization and integration between Android devices. Google had already announced a strengthening of privacy and security controls, and users will be able to more securely determine what they share with which applications. An example: it will be possible to access only selected videos, instead of giving permission to photos or an app for the entire camera roll of a smartphone.
In the yellow options, there will be a color scheme level that indicates how safe the phone – green, or red – will go end-to-end.
Trystan Upstill, vice president of engineering for Android, said in the preview session that the system will transition from MMS and SMS to the RCS messaging protocol.
“One of the use cases for all of us is keeping in touch with friends and family. We want all Android family users to be important that their messages are private.”
There is also an interesting update to the language settings. It will now be possible to choose different languages for different applications. For example: instant messages in Portuguese and other banking apps in English, or any of the languages that Android supports.
Updates will also be made so that the devices integrate better with each other, for example, allowing “copy” in one and “paste” in another.
“People continue to add more devices to their lives and they work better with each other,” says Trystan Upstill. “Android has always had the center of choice, being able to work for the operator himself the devices that best regardless of brand.”
This second beta of Android 13 will be released today. Google I/O runs until tomorrow.
