0: 4 against Salzburg: Wolves have no chance against the champions, the race for third place is getting closer: Unterkärntner Nachrichten
Salzburg. In the race for an international starting place, the WAC suffered a severe defeat last weekend. The wolves had no chance against champions Salzburg and lost 4-0.
In front of around 8,000 spectators in Wals-Siezenheim, WAC coach Robin Dutt fielded the following eleven: Kofler; Jasic, Baumgartner, Lochoshvili, Dedic; Leitgeb, Taferner, Liendl, Peretz; Röcher and Vizinger. The Wolves ran out with almost the same line-up as in the 1-1 draw against Austria Vienna. The only change in personnel was in the storm. Vizinger was allowed to start instead of Baribo. The game was just 1:40 minutes old when Salzburg took the lead. After a cross from Sucic, Adeyemi headed the ball into the goal. In the 31st minute, a ball relay in midfield was followed by a cross pass from Adeyemi to Adamu, who shot in to make it 2-0 for Salzburg. So the game and a possible point win for the WAC was already a long way off after a good half hour. But things got even worse for the people of Lavanttal.
The WAC stood low and lurked for counterattack opportunities, but could hardly play them out. In the first half, the wolves didn’t have a single significant chance to score. To make matters worse, coach Dutt’s eleven were far too vulnerable on the defensive, giving Salzburg space, which they gratefully accepted. After a long pass, Adeyemi danced through the Wolfsberg defense and made it 3-0 in the 37th minute from the home side’s perspective. Peretz saw the red card in the 42nd minute after a penalty foul on Adeyemi (42nd). Kristensen missed the resulting penalty. Substitute Solet scored the fourth goal for Salzburg, who switched back significantly in the second half, from close range (84′).
“I don’t think we would have turned the game eleven against eleven”
Robin Dutt, WAC coach
»Every defeat is painful, but it takes a great day like in the Cup to survive in Salzburg. At all, if they act with this speed and this force as in the first half. They were already extremely precise and showed all their qualities. It will be difficult for any opponent. I don’t think we shot it 11 on 11. It was important and a sign that the team was fighting back,” Dutt analyzed after the game.
Expiring contracts
As was announced in the run-up to the game against Salzburg, captain Liendl’s contract WILL NOT be extended. However, the WAC would like to keep the 36-year-old in another function at the club. »I made him a lot of offers that he could continue to work for the WAC in some way. But he asked for time to think about it, «informed WAC President Dietmar Riegler. The expiring working paper by Christopher Wernitznig will also not be extended. The 32-year-old will move to Austria Klagenfurt on a free transfer next season.
The Wolves continue their away game against Sturm Graz on May 15th. In the final round, WAC received Rapid Wien
