Investments in construction projects quickly fell by CHF 100 million – Liechtenstein
VADUZ – Last year, the Office for Construction and Infrastructure approved 660 construction projects with planned construction costs of 402 million francs and a construction volume of 533,000 cubic meters. The costs are thus quickly 100 million francs below the previous year’s figure.
The number of building permits issued increased by 34 compared to the previous year. This is evident from the 2021 building statistics. Investments in the housing sector fell from CHF 302 million in the previous year to CHF 221 million. Both public and private clients have projected lower investments. The Office for Construction and Infrastructure (ABI) essentially approved planning applications for 160 new buildings and 274 new apartments.
More than half related to housing
According to the statistics, 55 percent of the investments, i.e. CHF 221 million, were earmarked for the housing sector. 166 million went to industry and services. This area’s share of the total construction costs is 41 percent. In the areas of infrastructure and agriculture and forestry, less than 5 percent of the construction costs were earmarked, it is said.
For the 155 new construction projects, builders said 335 million francs. The remaining 505 building permits would have affected alteration building projects. The projected construction costs for private clients are estimated at CHF 390 million and thus comprise 97 percent of the total investment. According to statistics, public clients are planning investments of 12 million Swiss francs. CHF 1 million of this goes to the state and CHF 10 million to the municipalities.
