A 30 year old Albanian was arrested, by police officers of the Athens Security Sub-Directorate, accused of a robbery and seventeen thefts from shoppers, in the areas of Acropolis and of Exarcheion, as well as for disobedience. According to ELAS, the accused, impersonating the brochure distributor or lottery sellern, approached patrons in the interior or exterior of health stores or people in corporate offices, and placed leaflets or lotteries on the table in a special way to cover their personal belongings. Soon after, he deftly removed their cell phones, unnoticed. He then resold the stolen mobile phones, so that they would not be in the possession of the stolen property.
It is noted that the accused has been arrested in the past for theft.
The arrested person was taken to the Athens Public Prosecutor’s Office.
