6th round started – University of Innsbruck
On May 3rd, the sixth round of the mentoring program started for 15 young scientists and eight mentors in the presence of Ulrike Tanzer, Vice Rector for Research, and Anna Buchheim, Vice Rector for Human Resources.
The mentoring program serves to develop your personality and offers young female scientists the opportunity to actively deal with the topic of career development in science for a year.
The specific focus on peer mentoring is one of the distinctive features of the program. The groups meet monthly and determine content and working methods themselves. The workshops held at the beginning of the mentoring year offer guidance and assistance in organizing the mentoring year. The respective mentors accompany the scientists’ meeting every three months. As part of the kick-off, which was again able to take part in person, mentees and mentors shared their reasons for participating in this program.
The mentees expect from the program, among other things, the opportunity to learn from the experience of others and an exchange on how they can shape their scientific path and gain a foothold in science. The mentors look forward to contributing their expertise and supporting them in strategic decisions. The program ends in April 2023 – until then, the participants have plenty of time to discuss and reflect on their challenges in everyday scientific life and to find their individual path to success together with their colleagues.
