Liechtenstein finished the tournament in second place
Emotions ran high after the 8:4 victory of Liechtenstein’s ice hockey team against Andorra and the President of the Liechtenstein Ice Hockey and Inline Association, Karl Otto Gamperli, celebrated: “It was a great tournament with a fantastic team. Everyone’s joy is huge.” The Liechtensteiners lead 4:1 in the last game, Andorra caught up to 4:4, before the Liechtensteiners turned up the heat again in the last third and made everything clear with the 8:4.
Already in 2003 and 2007 there was a Liechtenstein national ice hockey team. The difference: Team 2022 competes to stay on the ice.
The success story continues: In the quarter game of the Development Cup in Füssen, Liechtenstein managed their third win with a 11:2 (2:1, 4:0, 5:1) against Algeria.
After the historic 7:6 victory against Ireland, Liechtenstein was able to confirm this performance in the second game of the Development Cup in Füssen with another win against Portugal (3:0).
In the very first game at the Development Cup in Füssen, Liechtenstein beat Ireland 7:6 (1:1, 4:3, 2:2). The team made history thanks to a sovereign team performance.
Assistant captain Julian Bernard would like to lead Liechtenstein longer in a World Cup division. He is aiming for a professional career overseas.
Looking to the future: A lot is expected of the young players in the national ice hockey team.
Liechtenstein national coach Herbert Schädler (53) was born in Bavaria, but his roots go back to the Principality.
The project is planned sustainably: Liechtenstein’s national ice hockey team has a clear vision of where the journey should lead.
