GEN-I will increase natural gas prices for “old” customers from before February 25, 2022
STAMay 7, 2022 – GEN-I joins natural gas suppliers, which have already raised prices in the last heating season. I’m already after winter on February 25th.
The new price will be 0.060 euros per kilowatt hour including VAT, with 0.032 euros, according to the price list published on Friday on the GEN-I website. The price without the 22% VAT rate will be EUR 0.049.
This price has already been charged to subscribers who switched to GEN-I after 25 February, and existing customers were guaranteed the old price until the summer.
Customers who concluded a contract with GEN-I before 25 February currently pay EUR 0.026 per kWh (excluding VAT) or EUR 0.032 with tax.
The price will be about 85% higher. However, since it represents only about 40 percent of the final bill, customer bills will actually only be about a third higher.
GEN-I said that it regularly monitors the situation in Europe and the world, which affects energy prices.
While prices reached historical highs in the second half of 2021, the situation is expected to stabilize after the winter months. However, the war in Ukraine has worsened the situation, so “we need to adjust and align our prices with changes in supply markets,” the company said.
Some other suppliers have already raised natural gas prices for households and small businesses, with the latest increases coming in May.
Petrol initially announced new price increases for April, but postponed them to May, when the heating season ends, so to speak, in order to soften the blow to its customers.
Its new price is 0.051 EUR per kWh including VAT, with 0.037 EUR.
The government recently extended the decree on reducing excise duties on energy products, including electricity, motor fuels, heating oil and natural gas, for another three months – until the end of July.
However, it decided not to extend the ceiling for conventional petrol and diesel, which raised retail prices to new highs on 1 May.
