Ends 16-1 the first race of the weekend between San Marino And New Rimini. After three innings of great balance, the scoreboard is moved first by Rimini, who finds the advantage thanks to three consecutive hits against Quevedo in 4th. In the lower part, however, the Italian champions respond with 6 points, adding 1 to the 5th and 9 to the 6th for the final +15 which is the interruption for “manifest”. Winning pitcher Quevedo, loser Aiello. Of note is the home run by Leo Ferrini and the ten extra-base bars, out of fifteen total, for San Marino.
THE CHRONICLE. The start of the two pitcher is excellent. Aiello is excellent for two innings and in the 3rd he saves the situation on Lino with full bases (F7). Quevedo eliminates the first eight batters, then suffers twice as much as Perazzini but he too closes the third without damage. At 4th Bertagnon starts with a valid one, followed by that of Canini and the single of Baccelli that gives the Rimini advantage (1-0). After the visit, Quevedo recovers and eliminates to the plate Bonemei, Pandolfi and Cifalinò, to the team to work on a reduced disadvantage. In the lower part, the bases are full after the ball bases in Ustariz and Batista, combined with Pulzetti’s hit on the left who gets injured on Canini (hand problems after the dive, Focchi enters). To push home the equal point is Lorenzo Di Fabio, who beats the single 1-1. For New Rimini there is the change on the mountain, with Di Giacomo for Aiello. The relief hits Ferrini and San Marino goes on 2-1, then undergoes the second of the afternoon from Celli (4-1) and the valid from Lino (6-1). In the fifth, the hosts go 7-1 with Celli’s single. In the sixth came nine points brought home by Leonora’s double (8-1), Pulzetti’s double (9-1), Lorenzo Di Raffaele’s double (11-1), Ferrini’s home run (13-1), single by Lino (14-1), Ustariz’s double (15-1) and Dudley Leonora’s second double inning (16-1).
