Portugal and Cape Verde sign agreement for parliamentary cooperation – Observer
Portugal and Cape Verde are designated, in the city of Praia, a new agreement for parliamentary cooperation in several areas, resuming the areas interposed because of the covid-19 pandemic, it was announced today.
The agreement was signed by the Secretary-General of the Assembly of the Republic of Portugal, Albino Azevedo, and by the Secretary-General of the National Assembly of Cape Verde, Paula Lima, within the scope of the XXII Meeting of Secretaries-General of Portuguese-speaking Parliaments (ASG-PLP). ) ), which took place in the city of Praia.
The protocol will cover, among the areas of parliamentary support and information, documentation, library, communication, new technologies, administration, international relations, protocol and public relations.
According to the National Assembly of Cape Verde, the new agreement, which comes from parliamentary cooperation with Portugal, “belows expectations” due to the covid-19 pandemic.
The secretary general of the Assembly of the Republic of Portugal said he hoped that this cooperation would now be strengthened.
“We can transmit what they have as the same, that the Assembly of the Republic is better and reciprocal so that it can serve the Assembly of the Republic so that it can serve each other, having as all that they can fulfill in others”, said Albino. like other bodies.
The secretary general of the National Assembly of Cape Verde also said that from now on, the dynamics will get better and better, for the common objective of strengthening bilateral cooperation.
“We believe that, for our part, everything will make the ideas of results become better for the best and, in this order, contribute to taking advantage of the necessary partnership and that it will be increasingly beneficial for everyone”, he said.
The XXII Meeting of Secretaries-General of Portuguese-speaking Parliaments (ASG-PLP) took place in the city of Praia, under the motto “New Paradigms for the Management of Parliaments in Times of Crisis”.
At the end of the meeting, Guinea-Bissau became the holder of the pro tempore of the Parliamentary Association.
The ASG-PLP was established in 1998 and is made up of the secretaries-general or charges of the parliaments of Angola, Deputy Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique, Portugal, São Tomé and Príncipe and Timor-Leste, the Senate and the Chamber of Equivalents of Brazil. , Senate and Chamber of Deputies of Equatorial Guinea.
The meeting of the secretaries-general was preceded by the XVI Meeting of the Computer Staff of the same association in the city of Praia, to analyze “The Challenges and Opportunities of ICT in Parliamentary Administration in Times of Crisis”.
