Police foil attempted murder in Innsbruck
Dramatic scenes occurred in an apartment in the Pradl district of Innsbruck on Friday night. Police officers were just able to prevent a 40-year-old Afghan with his two-year-old child from throwing himself out of the window.
The officers had arrived at the apartment just before midnight after a 38-year-old Afghan woman had killed her 40-year-old husband two hours earlier had reported violent acts to the Innsbruck Bahnhof police station.
The man should therefore be expelled from the apartment and given a ban on approaching. In the course of the official act, the 40-year-old grabbed the couple’s two-year-old child, who was in the apartment, opened a window and wanted to jump out of the 13th floor together with the child, the police reported on Saturday.
Snatched at the last second
“The officers of the Innsbruck Pradl police station present in the apartment were able to prevent a jump through the open window at the last second through quick, decisive and courageous intervention, and the man was asked to snatch the child and bring it to safety,” it said in a broadcast.
In another episode, there was violent resistance, in which both the 40-year-old man and two police officers were injured. The investigations into suspected attempted murder, resistance to state authority and various violent crimes against the wife are being conducted by the LKA Tirol.
The man was arrested and is currently in police custody pending interrogation.
