Finavia said on Saturday that it had not learned that any passengers had missed the flight due to Extinction Rebellion, or Elokapina climate activists blocking security checks at Terminal 2.
About 50 activists tried to block the entrance for security checks at about 3 p.m. Saturday.
According to Finavia, the airport authorities will respond by opening a second security checkpoint at the terminal for passenger security checks.
The Eastern Uusimaa Police Department said it had arrested 28 protesters who did not obey orders to leave the premises. They are suspected of violating the peace and disobeying the police.
The climate group said in a statement that it “wants to highlight the devastation caused by aviation and the global and local injustice that underlies it.” It also called on Finland to reduce air traffic.
Extinction Rebellion closed traffic on Friday at the intersection of Mannerheimintie and Simonkatu near Lasipalatsi, a busy place in the center of Helsinki.
The traffic jam on Friday launched a 15-day series of demonstrations by the environmental group to draw attention to climate issues.
