What are the objectives of an event like this?
“The Rimini Gathering is special for several reasons. It takes place after two years of suspension due to the pandemic, it falls on the 150th anniversary of the establishment of the Alpine Corps and has a peculiarity: for the first time all 19 flags of the Army Alpine Troops will parade together with the banner of the National Alpine Association. A real concentrate of military and civil value, with the 209 Gold Medals individually pinned on the Labaro and over one hundred decorations on the Flags. Hundreds of stories of heroism and generosity in times of war and peace that will receive the applause of all the participants in the Gathering “, explains the commander of the 9th, the Colonel Gianmarco Laurencig.
What is being created these days is an authentic invasion of black feathers.
The initiatives in the Gathering program began on Thursday 5 May. What emotions to be able to show people, get together and involve the public, in these great days of celebration? In addition, your company will give away some of the most important moments in the Gathering program.
“The 9th Alpini of the Taurinense Brigade is among the protagonists of this gathering. The men and women of the Regiment contributed significantly to the construction of military citadels, the exhibition spaces of the Alpine Troops dedicated to the history of the Corps and to today’s Alpine troops, with the exhibition of the latest generation equipment and materials. Our flag – among the most decorated of the Army – will parade through the streets of the center and, finally, our company of honor will mark the most significant moments of the Gathering, in Rimini and San Marino“.
In these days there will also be many exhibitions of historical and educational value. Are events like these the perfect bridge to transmit values to the younger generations?
“From this point of view, it is a source of great satisfaction for the 9th to have set up the historic Citadel, where you can immerse yourself in the 150-year history of the Corps thanks to the collection of memorabilia of the National Historical Museum of the Alpine Troops of Trento, arranged in a chronological path full of facts and curiosities. In fact, the Alpini were born in Naples, where on 15 October 1872 the founding decree of the first fifteen Alpine was signed, but the baptism of fire companies took place in Africa, in 1896. Then the epic of the Great War, the vicissitudes on the Greek fronts and Russian of the Second World War which earned our flag two gold medals for military valor. It’s here I want to address a thought to our dear reduce Valentino: ‘your’ black feathers from Abruzzo, also present today here in Rimini, greet you warmly!“.
