Revolts – Parking and Communes
Contre Courant Festival, Friday July 15 at 6:00 p.m.
The cycle Des révoltes comprises three shows. For the first time, we will be playing two in a row: Parking, and Towns. As part of the Contre-Courant festival… PARKING: Céline and Laurent have two children, Elodie and Quentin. Quentin is friends with Thomas. Thomas works at the hypermarket with Céline and is about to do something that will turn their lives upside down, as well as those of Jeanne, Almira, Lamia, Stéphane, Justine, Sylvie, Jules, Amélie, Catherine, Lydie, Annabelle, Baptiste…C This is the story of 17 people, a hypermarket, brutal and definitive awakenings, sorrows and joys. Parking is a dramatic comedy that takes place outdoors. She speaks of the feeling of precariousness, even of abandonment of those who are called “the people”. People, who are often other than ourselves, whom we consider as a mass of which we know how to be part and which we would like to be able to get rid of, sometimes. The “people” of the middle, popular and precarious classes, who have concerns that one might mistakenly believe are far removed from those of artists, for example, but who are consistent in a simple question: how to make one’s life livable? Is it possible to change things? Can we say no? And to what? MUNICIPALITIES: In a village. Three people come to found an LGBTQIA+ association, a fourth interviews them; but soon that is no longer the subject. Something is happening, echoing the general strikes that have shaken the country in recent months, a terrible roar, great fear, mixed with the suffering of a new justice: the village secedes, the Commune is decreed. The duration of the piece is the duration of the story: the painting of a moment, of a shift. It’s a one-part play, played both like vaudeville and like a thriller: in tension. It speaks of the event, of the political upheaval which explodes the intimate framework, even the militant framework, which splits in the chronological frieze. It’s about commitment not necessarily theorized, or which doesn’t seem to be, about the desire to be an actor/actress, conspiracy theories, repressive force, the need for another tune. We don’t know how it ends, since it’s a beginning.
