Magical start of Dante’s Month, literature and music in the conference of prof. Maurizio Gobbi
Introduced by Paola Masi, the first appointment of Dante’s Month 2022 took place on Thursday 5th in the Aula Magna of the Department of Human Sciences, now in its 15th edition, launched by the Dante Alighieri Association in collaboration with the Upper Secondary School and the San Marino Music Institute. The historical itinerary made by prof. Maurizio Gobbi who, through a precise reconstruction of specific details appropriately documented, showed to the loyal public the beauty and intensity of Dante’s biography, especially that relating to the final part characterized by the difficult situation in which the Supreme Poet found himself who, rightly , he liked to call himself “exul immeritus”. The relationship between the literary aspect of the conference and the choice of musical pieces by Dvoràk and Haydn excellently performed, both in the introduction and in the conclusion of the lectio, by two excellent students of the Musical Institute is significant and refined. Accompanied on the piano by Prof. Laura Geri, the violinist Rebecca Malfatti, in introduction to the conference, performed the first movement (Allegro moderato) and the third movement (Allegro passionato) from the “Four romantic pieces for violin and piano”, op. 75 by Antonin Leopold Dvorák; while in conclusion the violinist Giuseppe Toccaceli played the first movement (Allegro) of the “Violin Concerto No. 4 in G major” by Franz Joseph Haydn. The expressive diversity compared between the two generations created a magical atmosphere in the room and made those present more involved in the depth and history of Dante Alighieri. A warm applause from the audience thanked prof. Maurizio Gobbi, a great lover and scholar of Dante’s life and his works, in particular the Divine Comedy, of which he knows numerous songs by heart that he interprets and recites in a passionate way; Intense applause and warm compliments were addressed to the two young violinists Rebecca Malfatti and Giuseppe Toccaceli and to the teacher Laura Geri, extraordinary interpreters of the musical pieces. Contrary to the announced program of Dante’s Month, due to a mishap that occurred, it was necessary to reverse the order of presentation of the two subsequent meetings. Therefore, on Thursday 12 May, in the Aula Magna of the Department of Human Sciences, Prof. Veronica Casali, archeology and expert in early Christian and Byzantine history, will address a fascinating topic of women’s history in the conference “UNA SILENTE LIBERTÀ.
