First meeting of international experts in Salzburg
politics
International politicians, scientists, cultural workers and business managers meet on Friday and Saturday at Schloss Leopoldskron in the city of Salzburg. In terms of content, the focus is on the effects of the major crises: from the pandemic to the Russian war of aggression in Ukraine.
After a two-year break, Salzburg will once again be the stage for top international politics from Friday. EU Budget Commissioner Johannes Hahn initiated the two-day meeting. Former NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen, Foreign Minister Alexander Schallenberg (ÖVP) and former head of the Munich Security Conference Horst Teltschik discussed the effects of Russia’s war against Ukraine on the future of European security and defense policy in Leopoldskron Palace.
How have the pandemic and war changed society?
The question of how the coronavirus pandemic and the Ukraine war have changed society also promises to be exciting. Bestselling author Marc Elsberg and the German historian Jürgen Wertheimer are discussing this with Europe Minister Karoline Edtstadler (ÖVP).
Annual meeting around Europe Day on May 9th
The Director General of the International Monetary Fund, Kristalina Georgieva, is expected to answer the question of how prosperity, democracy and security can exist in uncertain times. The initiator of the Global Europe seminar is Austria’s Budget Commissioner Johannes Hahn – in the future he will bring leaders from international politics, science, culture and business to Salzburg every year around Europe Day on May 9th.
