António Costa announces aid of 2.1 million euros from Portugal to Ukraine
One day after meeting with his Ukrainian counterpart, the Portuguese prime minister participated, by videoconference, in the International Conference of High Level Donors for Ukraine, which takes place in Warsaw (Poland). António Costa reiterated that “Portugal is on Ukraine’s side” and announced financial aid to the country of 2.1 million euros.

Polish praise, Mateus oshom Morieckie, su Morieckie, Magdalena Andersson, initiative, António Costa reinforced for the Russian Federation, reiterated to the war, “it is an act of war against the brutal invasion of Ukraine and the 21st century against the brutal invasion of Ukraine and war against war unacceptable”.
“The consequences of this aggression go far beyond the territory of the skull, with millions of refugees seeking safety across our continent.” and, he added, despite Portugal being “the most western country in Europe and the most western in Ukraine, it has already received 5,000 Ukrainians who have been displaced”,3 highlighted.
Recognizing that the country is experiencing a more humane situation than Portuguese “very, very critical”, the head of Ukrainian rights reaffirms “the commitment to ensure security and well-being” Government of Ukrainian refugees.
“Portugal supports Ukraine and wishes the greatest success for this initiative“, concluded Costa.
The initiative is coordinated by the respective Prime Ministers of Poland and Sweden, Mateusz Morawiecki and Magdalena Andersson, respectively, in partnership with the members of the European Council and the European Commission, Charles Michel and Ursula von der Leyen, respectively.
A new 200 million aid package
Before the intervention of the Portuguese head of government, the European Commission announced a new aid package of 200 million euros from the European Union (EU) for displaced people.
“I am committed to people and honored to start with the €200 million mobiliser for the in Ukraine, the internally displaced people in Ukraine, and our hope is that many more will follow us,” said European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.
Interviewing at the conference, the community executive leader recalled that, “in 10 weeks of war, the EU has already come forward with four million euros in economic and financial support“.
“We mobilized 3.5 million for refugees, weeks ago in the EU, but more importantly in Warsaw, three committed with 1.8 billion for people already internally displaced in Ukraine”, said Ursula von der Leyen.
