Stefanchuk discussed with the Speaker of Moldova what help Ukraine needs
The Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Ruslan Stefanchuk discussed the security needs of Ukraine during a meeting with the Main Parliament of Moldova Igor Gross in Kyiv.
This was reported BP press serviceUkrinform reports.
“Today Ukraine defends all civilized, world democracy and stands for the protection of the principles of all life – it is on the world side, with the civilized world, including Moldova, for which I am very grateful,” – said Stefanchuk.
He also thanked Moldova for providing shelter to Ukrainians fleeing the Russian invasion.
“Approximately 400,000 of our citizens crossed the Ukrainian-Moldovan border, more than 91,000 of whom remained in Moldova and found refuge here,” the speaker said.
At the same time, he singled out several areas of assistance that Ukraine needs from Moldova.
The Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada called on the Moldovan side to consider the possibility of transferring Ukrainian military equipment and providing services in demining the liberated territories. The Ukrainian side also consists of accelerating the transit of humanitarian goods.
“Humanitarian aid is fueling our resistance, so we would be grateful for bypassing bureaucratic procedures,” Stefanchuk said.
According to him, sanctions policy is not the guiding direction of assistance to Ukraine. “Without a single pressure on Russia’s economic backbone, we will not stop this war. There are no and cannot be large or small countries, large or small economies – this should be a common cause for all, “- said the head of the Ukrainian parliament.
He considers that the issue of legal responsibility for crimes committed by the Russian military is also urgent.
“More than 40 countries have supported the appeal to the International Criminal Court, and we expect a fair verdict for those who commit genocide in Ukraine,” Stefanchuk said.
He appealed to the Speaker of the Moldovan Parliament to prevent Russian criminals from hiding, particularly in the Transnistrian region.
Stefanchuk stressed that Ukraine supports Moldova’s territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders, and also draws on attempts to involve the Transnistrian region in a full-scale war against Ukraine unleashed by the Russian Federation.
“We have very little distinction between Moldova’s clear and understandable position on allowing the use of your region’s territory to take part in the Russian-Ukrainian war,” he said, adding that the common goal was to neutralize the Kremlin’s plans to destabilize Transnistria.
For his part, Moldovan Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu stressed that from the first days Moldova has strongly condemned Russia’s aggression against Ukraine and fully supports Ukraine’s independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders.
“We strongly condemn the atrocities and war crimes committed by the Russian army. It is necessary to investigate and evaluate the actions committed by Russian criminals, “Gross said.
According to Ukrinform, Foreign Minister Dmytro stated that, together with Moldova and the whole of Europe, he supported the escalation in Transnistria so as not to create another front for Russia.
