One of the UK’s most wanted fugitives arrested in Vilamoura
Callum Halpin, 27, was present in court this Wednesday and will remain in prison while the preventive extradition process continues.
One of the UK’s most sought-after fugitives was arrested in Portugal on Monday, Sky News. Callum HalpinThe 27-year-old was a prosecutor with the Greater Manchester Police for the murder of 31-year-old drug dealer Luke Graham and the attempted murder of Anton Verigotta.
According to the statement from the British National Crime Agency (NCA), the British man was detained by the Judiciary Police (PJ) at an address near Vilamoura, in the Algarve. Information confirmed by CNN Portugal.
According to Sky News, Chame Halpin was this Wednesday in a court in Portugal, and will remain in preventive detention.
Halpin lived in the Manchester suburb of Openshaw, and was first considered a suspect in 2018, and earlier this year, the NCA placed him in for the first time. UK’s “Most Wanted Fugitives” list.
Graham was shot dead after being ambushed on a street in Ashton-under-Lyne in June 2018.
This is now the second man on England’s most wanted list to be arrested in Portugal. On Saturday, Alex Male, 29, was detained at Lisbon airport after landing from a flight from Turkey. He was detained by the Foreigners and Borders Service (SEF) when he tried to enter Portugal.
